THE WHITE OF  FLANCE

I started this when I was 17 years old and it was way too much for me, especially when  I didn't have a
computer and didn't know anything about writing. So I put it aside for a few years until I did get a
computer. I wrote the first chapter on and off, for a few years, stopping and starting now and again until it
was done. Then chapter  2 which seemed to go on and on. Luc's story is almost a separate novel on its own
and I toyed with the idea of breaking it up but decided against it as it felt naked. It was artistic licence that
his story was only half finished when the sun rose! I thought this is going on too much better keep it tight.
Then chapter 3. It was meant to be the same length as the first 2 which strangely were exactly the same
number of pages but it
naturally wound up earlier. When I was near the end I thought it was a grand moment, after so many years
I could finish it! Then it sat there until I discovered Lutz Barz and his website rspublishing. He loved it so I
was driven to do draft after draft and get it done. I spent most of 2006 doing it and it seems strange now that
it is finished. I was always able to just dust it off and write something without preparation and the words
would come. My only concern was that I thought it too much like Interview with the Vampire and that Luc
is French as is Lestat but the stories and characters are completely different. Over all the years the basic story
and theme never changed; You shouldn't wish for something cause you just might get it. I used the
geography of my old stomping ground of Saratoga/Davistown, nearly all my stuff is set there but changed it
into a parallel dimension. Hope no one gets mad about it.
