This is a showcase of material from an emerging new Australian writer Kristian Becker, based on the NSW Central
Coast. Created out of frustration at the publishing industry as getting published is probably the hardest thing to do,
especially in Australia if you're not a sports star, politician or stuck in a Balinese gaol. This is a way round the
bigwigs who think they know what is right and what people want to read.

I see it like the music industry. Once upon a time producers and companies controlled what an artist did and where
they played, their style and even their names. In some ways its the same but you and I know today there is so many
different genres of music and there is more stuff out there that's not in the Top 40. And its good even better. So why
not the same with the publishers? Why don't they hunt for new writers instead waiting for them to wade through the
grind to reach their mighty throne when a lot of it what they publish isn't very good. There's a formula to follow, a set
piece that a story needs to go through but sometimes that's boring right? Look at some of the crap Hollywood puts
out, most it follows the formula, has been checked and rechecked by studio execs so why isn't every movie a
classic? Do these people even know what's good? Seeing someone passed on Star Wars, Star Trek got cancelled
twice, even Harry Potter got knocked back. So what do these people know? Spelling, grammar ok but telling a writer
how his/her story should be? Is it the same as a studio exec telling a musician that there are too many verses and
the chorus need more lyrics and a choir.  It doesn't have to be the best ever, only passion and an edge.

That's my whinging done. Hooray for the internet and for people who want to look a bit further afield in their pursuit
of entertainment. Hooray for rspublishing, twisted tongue and all the other flag bearers trying to break free of the grip
of the publishers.
